Granite Peak Ski Area
It took an ancient mountain with a dramatic 700-foot rise and dozens of impressive modern day improvements to create today’s Granite Peak Ski Area at Rib Mountain State Park. A lot has changed since Wausau residents cleared the first six trails by hand in 1937, but a terrific north-facing slope that gets snow early and keeps it late remains the central wonder in this sea of manmade wonders.
