Linda Nash looks at an old wooden step ladder and thinks that it would make a nice floor lamp. She takes pieces of tattered quilting and uses them to create Santa Claus suits for primitive Santas. Her business, Mirick's Landing Country Store, serves as a showroom for her latest recycling projects. You will find birdhouses and frames that she has fashioned from pieces of 19th century furniture, plus coffee tables made from windows and mirrors. Look up to see the teapot chandelier. Owning four homes, including a bed and breakfast, gave Linda plenty of decorating ideas. Encouraged by her success at crafts shows, she set up shop in May 2006, trusting that her friends would continue to give her things they don't want anymore so that she can turn them into wholly original pieces of furniture and home décor. So far she has suffered no shortage of supplies. Mirick's Landing supplies locally as well as far away customers with the famous Thermohair socks, which are locally made. A baby section is stocked with everything from books to booties. Through the sale of Baby Knee Pads, Linda has generated enough money to inoculate the children in a small village in Africa.
